A Day of...

Today has been a day of not much going on. It has actually been really nice. Damon has been sick, so he stayed home from church today to get rested up. When he is sick, I don't get much sleep at night. We have been watching movies this afternoon. Just some much needed down time.

To rewind our lives a bit. We celebrated Valentine's Day by going out to dinner at the Tippecanoe Place. This is a resturant in South Bend. Our meals were yummy...and also our company was nice.

Damon had a birthday at the end of the week. Two more years until a BIG birthday! He spent the morning and early afternoon at work, then we spent the rest of the day and night together. We went to dinner at Papa Vino's with our good friend Becky...which by the way is an angel. She sure deserves a special place one day. Yesturday was spent hosting a Scentsy party in our home. It was nice to see friends outside of where we normally see them. Our weather has been really nice...not today. Snow, freezing rain, sluch. YUCK! So...it has been a great day to stay inside. I have a cold sore and it feels like a huge mountain on my bottom lip...it is oh so pretty! NOT!

Have a great one!

Day One!

I had forgotten how horrible parking is during the day on the IUSB campus. I left my home an hour before class to make sure that I got a parking space. If the lots are full, then they want to you to park on streets that I have not heard of before...my Women's & Sustainability class is going to be insteresting...the teacher is so full of energy and is really going to make the class enjoyable. My math class is MATH...the teacher is still a sweeb...but I WILL make it through it.

I was down working in the basement today and thought I should go up and check on the snow...I took a break from studying and shoveled...it was really lovely out...I must remember to take pictures so that i can add them to the blog to make it a bit more interesting...ok...back to reading! I have one hour before my Tuesday night TV watching...I like to watch Biggest Loser...it helps me get up in the morning and take a walk on the treadmill! Till Later!

Tomorrow starts the end of a LONG Journey...

Tomorrow I will begin my last semester in my undergraduate degree. This has been a very long haul. I am nervous...I should not be because I have been through this before. I think because it is the end of a beginning. I do not do well with change, and finishing my degree is quite the change for me. I have a math class and a women's studies class that deals sustainability. Looking forward to them.
Damon started his new job today...always lots of paperwork. It will be nice to get back into somewhat of a routine...I do better with a routine.
I am starting to feel better from dealing with a head cold to bronchitis. This has not been a fun month sickness wise. I am going to try and post more...but I can't promise anything. I feel like my life is not that interesting.
I have been able to reconnect with an old college roommate from Ricks...it has been fun! My 'girls' are coming out to the Chicago area this summer...so looking forward to spending time with them. It has been awhile since we have been together. Well...the laptop is about ready to die...do I must sign off!

January 2011

It seems like I can't be consistent in writing on this blog. So many things have changed since the last time that I wrote. Damon had surgery on his foot in two places...he has been off of work since December 2. While being on leave, he resigned from his job and snagged a new job. Go D! I resigned from my job at as Title I kindergarten aide so that I can graduate with my degree in May. I finally passed the dreaded math class...and the teacher that I had this past fall only taught the class in middle of the day. PHM was not willing to work with my schedule. It will all work out in the end...I am still in the training of becoming a tutor for Orton gillinham...takes a lot of time, but I will have more time now since I am not working and going to school. I have been sick for 3 weeks with the crud...I am now diong breathing treatments and other meds...sooner or later I will be better. Well...that is all for now. We had a nice holiday. Not sure if anyone reads this blog anymore...if you do, then leave me a message!

Summertime!

This is my last weekend before school starts this week. I have had a good summer. My mom belongs to a Community Supported Agriculture garden. She (I have gone on a few occasions) once a week on Wednesdays and works for 3 hours and brings home a bushel full of fresh fruits and vegetables that we have been eating all summer. It is amazing how well we feel after eating "FRESH" all summer.

Today we went to the garden to learn more about canning. When I was little my mom canned quite a bit. There is something about eating "FRESH" all summer that I do not want to stop after the growing season. Today we canned salsa, "HOT" peppers, and tomatoes. OH MY! How I wish I could bottle up the smells and make a scented blog post. We bought peaches today and will be canning them on Monday afternoon.

Damon and Mom are going to a NASCAR race tomorrow. It has been on the bucket list for Damon, even though he does not call it a bucket list. I am not going...I don't want to watch cars go around and around a track. I am sure that I will have plenty of pictures to look at...

Have a great day!

July

WOW...this sure has been a month. We moved, I had a birthday, I went to Girls Camp for church...and my car was broken into. Not at camp...but at home :( They busted a window out and took Damon's wallet. There was no money in it...but just the problem of calling and cancelling things and then requesting new cards and such. When it rains, it pours. We were able to go to my sisters and Zoe's new house and enjoy a cook out. You give the grandma's some "Special" drink and you never know what will happen! It is hot...also trying to catch up with some laundry. Watch out Granger people...make sure things are buttoned up tight...they are hitting the neighborhoods.

Spring...

I love spring time. It is a time for renewal, a time for change, and a time for forgiveness. Things are very busy in the Hatch family. It is spring break from work this week...but it has not been much of a break so far! Hope all is well...

A New Year

Well...it is that time of year that I look back on the back year and think of how things went. There were good times, there were bad times...happy and sad. I am looking at my last full semester of my undergraduate degree. This has been a long time coming.

It is back to work tomorrow...I have missed my little friends...but I have also liked being home. I did not accomplish much...but it was nice.

I was released as the secretary in the Young Women's program at church...hoping that there is something else out there for me to do. I know that it sounds silly...but I must start thinking of what I would like to do this summer.

I am wishing that the winds pick up tonight and that mother nature showers us with more snow. I could use another day of not using an alarm clock!

Happy New Year!

Another Christmas in the Past

The pictures posted at the bottom...
guess I have to put pictures in first...and then do the blogging!

Each year I look forward to Chirstmas. I love getting out the decorations, pulling out the ornaments that I have had since I was a little girl...and thinking about what to get each special person in my life. This has not been the case this year. I just could not get into the Christmas spirit. I have had lots of things weighing my mind the past few months. My lovely husband put the tree up and all the ornaments...what a saint. I did manage to put a few things around our very humble living arrangement. As a child growing up, Damon and his family had done the 12 Days of Christmas to a man in their ward...and he wanted to bring this tradition to our family. I felt a little stressed about this because money is tight just with the two of us...how in the world were we going to come up with 12 different gifts for the family we would pick. I could go on and on listing the stresses that I was feeling about all of this...but in the end, it was the best thing that we could of done this holiday season. We felt truely blessed when we were left messages about how thankful this family was in our kindness...my heart has been truely warmed. Christmas Eve found us at my mom's house where we had a wonderful meal with our dear loved one. We opened stockings...Santa came early...and then opened gifts. We wandered home late in the eveing just waiting to lay our heads on our pillows. Christmas morning we went back to my mom's where we shared a lovely Christmas brunch with our family plus the Campbell Family...what a lovely time was had by all. Damon is cooking dinner on the new indoor grill that we received as a gift...pictures of the holidays will follow soon!

Sad Week

Damon lost his grandfather on his biologicl side of the family this week. He went into the bathroom, had a heart attack...he fell and crack his head. They found him in the morning. Last night at 12:54 PM our time, we received a phone call stating that Damon grandma Carole had passed away. She had been sick with cancer and the family had been told that she had less than 24 hours early in the evening last night. Needless to say...we were up for quite a bit of time. Grandpa Patey and Grandma were married quite a long time ago...but have not been married to each other for an even longer time.

Grandma Carole was there for Damon when he was a little guy when it seemed no one else wanted him...she will be missed. Damon had the chance to go to Vancouver twice in the late summer to visit her and has fond memories...here is a picture of them. We love you grandma and can't even imagine the renioun that is taking place right now...you will be missed!
